Every graduation year, faculty and administrators look at their students as they receive their diplomas. For those of use who have witnessed multiple graduation classes, we reflect upon the class and what makes them different than previous classes.
This year, the difference was simple. What this Class of 2022 has accomplished, hopefully, will not be duplicated again. What they endured during the past 2 years speaks volumes of their dedication and character. Very simple...in one word, "PANDEMIC" or "COVID".
This class was asked to play sports only to see games cancelled and chances for championships be tossed aside. This class was asked to "mask-up" and sit socially distant from their classmates. This class was asked to eat packaged food for lunch in order to assure that any contagious fever would not be passed to them. This class was asked to wake-up at home and sit in front of a computer screen for 7-8 hours to get and do their classword.
Never in our history, have 16-18 year old young girls and young men asked so much. No field trips; No proms; No sporting events; and virtual graduation ceremonies.
And through it all.....here we are, ready to present their diplomas on Saturday, May 21, 2022.
CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2022.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOUR PARENTS.
YOU DID IT !!
