March 16, 2020 ..... the last day of our 2019-2020 school year due to the Covid19 Pandemic. It seems only right that we return to the classroom 1 day shy of that anniversary.....March 15, 2021.
There are so many people to thank, so many people who we have never met, and so many that are part of our extended Memorial Day School family.
Thank you to our Board of Directors and our Head of School Jennifer Farris for putting in place a system where we could continue to educate our students and to keep them safe and healthy. Purchasing the needed technology was a surprise, but doing what we need to do is what Memorial Day has always done.
Our faculty members had to learn a whole new way of teaching using on line technology, putting lesson plans "on the cloud", and communicating with their students via zoom and other methods unfamilar to them.
BUT WE DID IT !! WE MADE IT !! And we are stronger and better for it. We will celebrate on Monday, March 15th as we open our arms to welcome home our students to 6500 Habersham Street. We have missed their smiles and the interaction they bring in the classroom.
The worries of the pandemic are not completely over but we can see that "light at the end of the tunnel". We will continue to pray for everyone's health and safety. We will continue to be vigilante regarding mask, hand sanitizing, and social distance AND we will celebrate just being with each other.
Now, we can look forward to returning to some of our wonderful Memorial traditions like Junior Ring Ceremony, Prom, Honors Assemblies and, of course, Graduation.
Welcome Home. Welcome home to a school where family and students truly do matter.
