Important Information for Parents
Cancellation of School
In the event of severe weather or other emergencies, official information about school closing will be broadcast on Savannah area radio and television stations. Parents should be aware that severe weather or other emergencies could cause school to be canceled during the school day. Parents should plan accordingly.
Earn tuition credit for new families
How much is your personal recommendation worth? It’s priceless to us!! And you may earn a credit of $500.00 on your tuition account if you assist us in enrolling new families.
Over the past three years, since this program was first instituted, we have had some of our Memorial families who have earned close to their own personal tuition expenses just by earning money by recommending Memorial Day School and our unique approach to education!
Here’s how the program works:
- Contact Jill Willcoxon, Director of Admissions, at 912-352-4535 (extension 214) and give her the name of the prospective family. She will record the referral.
- Give out our Memorial Day School flyers, brochures, or an admissions application to all interested families.
- The prospective family contacts the Admissions Office and gives your name as the referring parent.
- After the prospective family enrolls for the 2007-08 school year, a tuition credit of $500.00 will be applied to your account in 90 days.

Volunteer Opportunities
There are many opportunities for you to help around Memorial Day School. We will highlight a few and would appreciate you checking off any that you might be interested in. We will have someone from our PTO Volunteers Committee get in touch with you soon. Thank you for your wonderful assitance in making our school the best in can be.
ATHLETICS…you can help us with by perhaps coaching one of our teams, or with the game management (keeping score, taking tickets, etc), or helping us raise money by working in our concession stand.
CAFETERIA…how about helping Mrs. Hodges serve lunch, or maybe you are a “wiz” in the kitchen and can lend a hand to Ms. Theresa and Ms. Deborah.
COMMUNICATION…work with us in the office preparing a bulk mail out or serving on a telephone tree to call parents.
COMMUNITY SERVICE…Memorial Day School is always looking for good quality Community Service projects that our students and families can get involved with and support.
FUNDRAISING…we need your help to work on one of our many, important projects to raise money for Memorial Day School. We also have some on-going efforts like “Box Tops For Education”, Funding Factory-Recycling Ink Cartridges, and Spirit Wear.
HANDYMAN SERVICES…We can always use an extra hand fixing up and sprucing up our school. If you have a “green-thumb”, can do electrical or plumbing work, work on our school buses, or are handy with a paint brush, please let us know.
ON SITE VOLUNTEER…You don’t have to go far to lend us a hand. There is always something to do around here. You can volunteer to read a book to our lower school students or hang out with Ms. Hill in the Media Center and help her put up some books. Mrs. Estes or Mrs. Willcoxon can always use an extra hand around the office making copies or just running a few errands.
Well, that’s a good start but the whole point of this is that WE NEED YOU !!. Please say yes and give us a little time. The whole effort makes us a great family and the results are an awesome school for your student and all of our students.
